A work in progress

Welcome to From My Two Hands. The theme is making: crafts, fine art, things that bring you comfort–because making brings me joy. Couldn’t we all use a little more joy in our lives?

What art offers is space–a certain breathing room for the spirit.

From My Two Hands is my studio and my laboratory–literally and figuratively. You’ll find that I’m interested in a lot of different areas: photography, digital art, knitting, sewing, baking, preserving, papercraft, homemade body care products, and painting, to name just a few.

I’m in “building-the-ship-while-sailing” mode, so I hope you’ll come back to my site as I build it out. I promise, there are lots of hidden pages that aren’t quite ready for prime time.

In the blog (still mostly v1.0), you’ll find posts about new things I’m trying, what I’m learning, my experiments and works-in-progress. Sometimes there will be stories behind a piece, particularly in photography. The portfolio (partially constructed) contains collections of the pieces I’m proudest of–the items that I think turned out the best–even if not how I originally envisioned them. (I’m working on better pictures and getting it all organized online.)

I hope you enjoy!

It has been said that art is a tryst, for in the joy of it maker and beholder meet.
